As the nights draw in, the leaves start to fall off the trees and the days get shorter, you may find yourself feeling down, lethargic, or even a little side. This could be down to a number of factors, such as the end of summer, the reduced hours of sunlight, or the worsening weather (depending on where in the world you are!). Whether you’re feeling down or you’re pre-empting these feelings that can come on when the weather gets colder, then you’ve come to the right place.

To boost your energy and mood, take a look at those self care tips that you can include this autumn. Read on for some favorites!

1. Incorporate daily gratitude

It can be easy to feel grumpy and reclusive as the weather starts to turn for the worse and you have to start pulling out coats and boots. The first thing to consider is that this is natural – it happens to most people and it’s nothing to worry about. To counteract this, consider picking up the practice of gratitude journaling. This means sitting down (ideally each day) to write down the things that you’re grateful for. These things can be anything, from the golden glow of the sun through the window, the pair of warm socks on your feet, or the coffee that you’re drinking.

It can help you to focus on the good parts of your life and make you generally feel better. It can help you to ‘rewire’ your brain to focus on the positives and generally improve your sense of well-being. If you’re struggling with this practice, then consider incorporating this into your morning routine, so that you wake up each morning and write down at least 3 things you’re grateful for.

2. Focus on movement

This doesn’t mean throwing yourself into a grueling daily exercise regime, but it means focusing on incorporating positive movement that makes you feel good. Exercise is great for your mental health and helps to boost energy levels – which is what you need when the daylight hours get smaller.

Consider what types of exercise make you feel good, and look at how you can build them into your day. Maybe a daily walk in the morning helps you dick off your day nicely. Maybe you want to pick up a new yoga practice. Whatever it is, focus on consistency and enjoyment – telling yourself that you get to do exercise, rather than you have to.

3. Supplement yourself

The lack of sun in fall and winter means that you may have lower levels of vitamin D, which can negatively affect your mood and wellness. Additionally, providing it’s legal in your location, consider improving your mood and supplementing with medical marijuana from a reputable supplier such as Harvest. It can help to improve sleep, reduce anxiety, and relieve medical ailments (both physical and mental).

Hopefully, this list has given you some inspiration for self care tips this fall. Remember, consistency is key, so diarize these acts to help you stay on track and feel better!
