Must-Have Women’s Wardrobe Essentials for Winter Style

Winter fashion can be fun and functional. A few stalwart pieces should last several years. Consider these must-have women’s wardrobe essentials for winter style.

Boots

A pair of buff shearling-lined boots with thick, slip-resistant soles or a chunky pair of black combat boots will give you the foundation for almost any winter outfit. For work or dining out, keep a pair of knee-high boots in your wardrobe to pair with skirts or knit dresses.

Leggings and Tights

Slim leggings look great when topped with an oversized sweater or a puffer jacket. Many fashionistas wear miniskirts for winter, so you’ll need a few pairs of opaque tights to keep your legs warm between the bottom of your skirt and the top of your boots.

Sweaters

Several sweaters in different styles that keep you warm are near the top of the list of must-have women’s wardrobe essentials for winter style. Be sure to have sleek sweaters to top a turtleneck and a few bulky, collared sweaters to set off your jeans or leggings. Splurge on a cashmere sweater for softness and warmth.

Long Wool Coat

No winter wardrobe is complete without a quality wool coat that falls below the knee. Go with classic camel, black, or navy; bright colors might be trendy, but trends pass. If you’re going to invest in a good wool coat, choose a classic style and color that will last for years.

Hats, Scarves, and Gloves

Here’s where you can go a little crazy with color and patterns to top your good wool coat. Beanies hug the heat close to your head. Pom-pom style hats add a bit of fun. Scarves brighten up your look while keeping your neck warm. You can’t go wrong with a plaid scarf paired with a beanie and gloves that pick up one of the scarf’s colors.

Also, consider an oversize blanket wrap to top off a wool coat with style, or choose a fedora to add some dash to your look.

If you’re in an area with year-round sunshine and heat, you can still give winter a nod in your accessories with holiday-themed jewelry, lighter-weight cardigans, and straw fedoras. Have fun building your winter wardrobe!
